I'm so sorry that you are going through this.

I had a D&C in Sept and it honestly wasn't bad. I went to the mall afterward and did a little shopping then slept the rest of the day because of the anesthesia. I went back to work the next day or the day after that. I wasn't in pain at all, didn't even need Tylenol.

Nancy.... I was in your shoes but I was afraid of the procedure. I decided to give my body a week to see if it would pass it and if not I was going to have the D&C. Less than 3 days later I miscarried on my own and really since things are so small at that point it was no more painful or bad than a heavy period. I was still going to exercize classes and it didn't slow me down from my daily activities in any way.

I was SO glad I didn't put myself through a surgical procedure for nothing...

Just a thought.

Nancy, Im so sorry hon!!

I just went through this myself earlier this year. There are alot of natural miscarriage advocates out there, but I am not one of them. I had a very bad experience where I almost DIED during one, so I would never opt to do it again. A D&C is a very simple, easy procedure. Of course there are risks, but they arent things that happen alot. Ive had a couple now between early miscarriages and a polyp, and they were all easy - and the bleeding, for me, after has always been very very minimal.

Good luck hon. Please feel free to email me if you would like to chat!!

But I think if it had been an elective D&C I would have been fine. No pain or cramping or anything like that. Slight spotting for a day or two and a period exactly four weeks later. Although, my throat was sore from the intubation procedure(apparently they press fairly hard on your throat) for a day or two.

Ive never been intubated for a D&C!! Ive always gotten that sedation drug where you dont remember anything afterwards, no tubes!! Im TERRIFIED of being intubated, so I wouldnt elect to have a D&C if I needed to be intubated!

So sorry for you and your IPs.
I had one many, many years ago - it wasn't that bad. I don't recall being intubated, I thought they just gave me medication in my IV and I don't remember the procedure at all.

Sorry to hear the news, Nancy.

I've also had 2 D&Cs, and wasn't intubated for either one.

I am so sorry for this. I hope that you start to feel well quickly after the d&c.

I personally feel that D&C's are one of the more difficult "small" procedures to recover from, because of the emotional state it puts you in. It has such a huge affect on recovery. My best advice is to have a strong support system to help you.

The intubation caused a few problems for me...if I had known there was an alternative, I definitely would've asked for it. However, I was intubated during my laparoscopy, and if they hadn't told me, I never would've known...no sore throat, no neck pain. I guess it just depends on the doctor who does it.

Other than that, I didn't have too much cramping or physical pain.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.
