I was wondering if anyone knew. I had my own insurance policy at the beggining of our journey, and in February out of the blue my husband was layed off from his job. The best option for me at the time was to purchase COBRA insurance which I have been paying since Febuary. I was just looking over my contract one last time and saw that it says intended parents are responsible for COBRA payments to continue coverage shared equally by the parties. I didn't think they were responsible, but I wouldn't have continued insurance coverage at this time otherwise because it is too expensive. So are they responsible for that or some of that? I just wanted to check here before I asked to see if I even should ask.

You definitely need to tell your IPs what is going on. If your contract says that your IPs are responsible for the COBRA coverage, than yes, they are responsible!
I know my contract states that the loss of employment through no fault of my husband will result in them picking up the costs of the coverage. Meaning, if he got fired, we have to pay for it. If he gets laid off, they pay.

What do you think it means when it says "shared by the parties"??? Who are the parties?

Parties are the surro and IP's. Im guessing you will split the insurance costs of cobra through 6 weeks PP. Thats how mine was written too.

My contract says that my IPs will pay for the difference. We all know COBRA is much more expensive and I would keep paying my normal portion while the IPs would pick up the rest.
