Exclamation 2 Surrogates File Lawsuits Against Extraordinary Conceptions

I feel so bad for these women who did something so great and are now getting paid back with unpaid bills.

Now I'm not saying the surro company is in the right, but didn't these woman have to have an insurance card to see the doctor?? Didn't they contact the company at all during their pregnancy and ask about the insurance policy? 2.5 mil is an awful lot to ask for in my opinion.

Totally off topic, but what part of VA are you from? VA surro here too!

I see this is your first post, we would love to know more about you, can you post a little intro so we can welcome you officially?

interesting first post.

While I agree no surrogate should be stuck with medical bills.... I havent heard of an agency actually paying for someone's health insurance.

Methinks there is way more to the story than in these articles.

Sounds more like the insurance company denying a surrogate pregnancy to me, but I dont know. 2.5 million though? people lose limbs, lives and children and dont receive that amount in court.

I totally agree. Why didn't they question this while they were still pregnant?

Another reason I am sooooo thankful for my Canadian healthcare - no fees, no copays. Many years ago, I spent a month in ICU and I didn't pay a single penny. When my surro babies are born here, they are covered under my healthcare until they go home, so no worries about bills to arrive later. I would gladly pay double the taxes just to keep that piece of mind.

It will be interesting to see how these cases end. Obviously, there is more to this than we know.

I haven't heard of any agency paying the medical bills either, but if it is in their agreement, then the agency is on the hook for it ...

That is one of the agencies I looked into back in 2006..... Sort of glad I didn't work with them now. My first agency (Agency for Surrogacy Solutions) reimbursed me for my health care premium that came directly out of my pay checks.

What an odd first (and only) post.

I suspect this has been posted by an involved party, which is exactly why I don't even want to read the links.

Sorry :\

If this is another case of an agency abusing funds, the 2.5 million isnt to get rich . . .it is to put the agency out of business because they wil never be able to be insured again. I hope it brings agencies to the spotlight so there can be some regulations

Default My Agency

This is the agency I've used for all of my surrogacies so I feel a very strong need to defend them here. They have always been extremely professional and I've never had an issue or problem with anything. My reimbursements, scheduled payments and premium refunds were always payed right on time, every time. In every one of my contracts, it stated that through no fault of the surrogate's any unpaid medical bills were the responsibility of the intended parents. I'm not sure what the actual situation is that's going on....but I'm getting my strong gut vibe that "something's not right" with the story as written. There is much more detailed info that remains to be revealed. It's my guess however, that it's not being explained because it will be revealed in court. JMHO

(It is strange about the 1st posting starting this thread and nothing else?Hmmm)
