    Default Milk Donors Beware!

Without mentioning specific names, I would like to post this warning message to any potential milk donors who are trying to find a recipient family, or who have been contacted by anyone asking for you to donate.

I was a surro, delivered my surro son last June, and made arrangements to donate my milk to an adoptive family in Texas. Long story short, I shipped over 5000 oz of milk to them, and they stopped returning my emails and phone calls, and I'm SURE planned to never pay me the $1100 they owed me for pump rental, storage bags, and shipping (I put on my credit card).

I finally tracked the husband down at work and he claims he knew nothing about the money they owed me, so he is/was making efforts to re-pay me, and they currently still owe me $300.

In the meantime, the woman is making up fake screen names and user names here and at other surro and milk donation sites, in hopes of finding another innocent mommy to donate to them.

This warning is to EMPHASIZE that any arrangement you make to donate milk, NEVER, NEVER, ship at your expense. Make sure the recipient family either has a Fed Ex or UPS account, or they send you a refillable visa card, or cash, to cover expenses. I would also have them pay you in advance for pump rental and storage bags, or better yet, buy or send you those items. Do not trust that anyone who claims to want breastmilk for their babies, and promises to reimburse you, will follow through with their word. Especially if you have never met them. The internet if rampant with scammers, including ones who will steal breastmilk!!!

Sad but true! Please learn from me and do not get scammed!

If you would like specific information about this particular couple, feel free to email me at awesomescents@yahoo.com.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I am so glad that I found the mommy that i did, because the next lady who contacted me was the one of whom you speak. Scary.

THANK YOU ~ THANK YOU ~ THANK YOU....for posting about this and warning others!!

I think it's just HORRIBLE for someone to take total advantage of your generousity. Like YOU owe HER anything!! UGH!!

It's VERY important to receive payment upfront prior to shipping breastmilk!!!

I really hope that this couple pays you what they owe you and they don'T scam ANY other woman with a huge kind heart!!

    Hugs to you ~

Wow! I am so sorry this happened to you. You did a good thing by donating your milk and for them to turn around and do this to you is awful.
I hope you get your money back.
Thank you to those who donated to Trenton.

The woman that attempted to scam the OP lives in Texas. If you need more info, you can contact the OP or email me!

    THat is HORRIBLE!!!

I am SO sorry and am glad you have recouped much of your outlay!

THis makes me SO angry! I know that there is a chance that I may need to go back on hormonal therapy after my baby (WOW, MY baby?!?!?!? YAY ) arrives which will probably dry up any milk I have. I've been starting a savings account specifically for donor breastmilk expenses.

I hate that this type of situation would lead a kindhearted and GENEROUS woman to be hesitant to donate her breastmilk.

SHAME SHAME SHAME SHAME on those scammers!

I have a really bad feeling in my stomach right now, I am quite sure I know who this is. I will be making a post about her shortly. I am not a surro mom, but I am co-leader of an organization that deals with milk donation and we have been having run ins with this woman that are very shady.
