Len Brooks and Mid Atlantic Center for Surrogacy

We posted regarding the good news of the birth of our son, Liam...this was after years of BS from Len and his "staff". and now we'd like to inform the surrogacy community about what has happened with us, and Mid Atlantic Center for Surrogacy/ LEN BROOKS.
We worked with Mid Atlantic Center for Surrogacy for three years... In that time, we were "matched" with three surrogate mothers... This was the most difficult time of our lives, not bc we had difficulty becoming pregnant or having miscarriages, but bc of Len's actions. We feel that our funds were misappropriated and we still have not received a full refund on our escrow acct...
We have a signed contract refunding money that Len agreed that he owes to us. But since Len has stopped taking our calls, email and will not speak to us... this is our only way of getting in contact with him. If you take the total amount of money that Len owes us, subtract what we agreed upon as an amount of refund... Len still makes on like a bandit.
LEN, THIS IS OUR FINAL ATTEMPT TO RECOVER OUR FUNDS. Next, we will begin with our storey making it public online, and in the media. We have already spoken with two talk shows who are interested in our story, two magazines and we are also in the works on a documentary regarding our quest to have children.
Being that we are from Massachusetts originally, and that we are legally married to each other now, the angle that the production company want to focus on is the new American family. Gay families and our adoption of our son... and how we went through **** with you before finally calling it quits and moving on. You will be named publicly and you will not have any recourse, bc everything is documented,
You owe us money and I am tired of your crap, lies and stories.
I will say one final comment to you before I post this message.... We know about documents being falsified... and we will drag J into court as well.
I guess we are not alone in this ongoing problem with Len Brooks of Mid Atlantic Center for Surrogacy.
We have filed a complaint with the BBB, but according to them... MACS and Len Brooks did not respond to their requests for information. We are now in the process of placing a complaint with several other agencies. Today we heard from the New Jersey office of business affairs and the Attorney Generals office. I urge you all to file complaints with the BBB if you have had any issues with this agency.
Len is a LIAR and a THIEF. Len has spoken to me several times regarding his own personal finances (his two car payments 1-$1200 per month, 2-850 per month, his home morg of $4,000 per month.....the list goes on and on).
I have known Len for many years, and considered him a friend until recently. He seems to know exactly what to say and when to say it to keep your hopes up. He takes advantage of a persons desires to be a parent. He uses emotional torture to hold you under his thumb, promises he cannot keep~ but you want to believe him.

Hello Everyone,

Over the past few days questions have come up regarding our Agency's policies and actions. I am here to address these issues and to present a resolution if in fact the claim is valid. If you feel that our agency owes something to you personally, please contact me directly at surrogacy2@aol.com or via phone at 888-836-9871. I will be happy to address each valid issue and to work towards a resolution. To date, there have been two situations brought to my attention and our agency has responded, taking responsibility, and working out the issues presented. We will continue to address valid issues in a timely and efficient manner.

Sorry to hear about this yet again guys, you don't know me but my friend had the same thing happen to her, money not arriving on time, she practically had to beg for her checks, she was threatened by the agency, the old "check is in the mail" excuse except didn't work since it was being sent FedEx, just a mess. Oh, he said back then that it was due to him doing it all himself and needing staff, well supposedly he hired "staff" to help him and all would be fine, well I gues it didn't work. Surrogacy representatives like this is exactly what gives surrogacy a bad name!!! Good luck guys!!! and everyone using this agency.

We recieved a telephone call from Len Brooks today. This is after I left
him several messages, but he did call me back. I spoke with Len for approx.
25 minutes about our personal financial situation with him. Len has fully
agreed to his debt, and apparently is going to repay us. He has asked us
for a few days to come up with a payment plan. We have agreed to this, in
the hopes that Len will redeem himself. Len in no way tried to deny his
debt which shows us that he has good character. He was honest with us, but we will see how this actually plays out. We have been told this same information in the past.

Rich, I hope you can get this sorted, it's a bugger when people owe you money, say they're going to send it, or repay it, and nothing ever comes of it. So frustrating.

I'm sorry, but I don't feel this is the place for anyone to get back at someone. Surrogacy is a great thing and I don't like reading about bad outcomes. I don't think this is the place for someone to be threatening someone about how much money they owe. Be adults and and if someone doesn't live up to their contract, take them to court not to the SMO boards. As far as any agency that is deceptive or out to do anything other than make a family for someone, I have no respect for you either.

I disagree, because people should not scam people our of their hard earned money. Its a shame he had to publicly out him, but hey he did what he had to do. What else is there to do when someone doesn't answer you phone calls and just ignore you? I am glad he got some results.

You obviously where never affiliated with this agency or this man. Imagine my surprise when I found out not only myself, but several other couples miscarried on the same day, with the same surrogate. Personally, I agree, this IS the place to post outcomes, otherwise how else would you or any other unsuspecting surrogate or IP know to beware of someone. Now, their is an entire section dedicated to this. Until you experience this type of situation, you cant judge. Its not like we felt as if we didn't get our moneys worth, we didn't get anything...

I just wanted to jump on this and share a little. I totally agree that they should share their story with us. This IS in fact the place for that. I am a little troubled though that they have talked to a couple of shows. Only because I would hate to watch the show, and with their good intentions, only the bad will be edited into what we viewers would see. I just hope that if you are on a show, that you take that into consideration. I totally am in 100% support of you, and hope that you do get all of your money owed. I don't really know your background story other than what was just typed, but I hope that you got your bundle of joy after all that you went through. I wish you all the best in your life, and journeys. I just would like to ask that you could make sure to put a good word out for surrogacy. There are far more stories of the bad in the media than the good. So, to know that you can give a shout out of SMO and us ladies here supporting each other would be great, or something else in support of us good SMs, EDs, and IPs. JMHO, so if not that is fine. I just would hate another bad story, with no good outcome in sight. Best of luck!!

this is the perfect place for anyone who has info to share about a clinic that is not on the up and up. I also hope that is this couple goes public they are careful to make sure that surrogacy doesnt get a bad rap because of this one bad clinic. It seems the media rarely will do stories on the benefits and joy of using a surrogate but will hop right on a negative story.

So now what?! The potential IP's I agreed to use this agency. Does anyone have a positive experience to share about this agency? I won't move on to the next IP's unless my potential IP's say to or change their mind about me, but this is really a bright red flag and possibly not a good situation for a first-timer like me.

Ali, NO ONE has anything good to say about Len Brooks. Your IPs need to truly educate himself on Len and his so called "agency." He was formally indicted on charges in March and the news made headlines in his area. If you go to the SMO homepage and scroll down, you'll find 3 or 4 links concerning his charges and court appearance, where he plead not guilty (lying, stealing scum that he his). Please encourage your IPs to at least do a simple google search on Len and if for some crazy reason they still want to work with him, DO NOT agree to work with them. You'll get hurt in the process because he'll require that they put their money in escrow (which all agencies do), but the money will be gone, you'll never get paid, and the IPs will never get their money back.

I absolutely agree with Kim. There was another member here who we warned REPEATEDLY not to work with Len Brooks, regardless of how she felt about her IP's. We told her she would get screwed, she ignored the advice and guess what? She went through the egg donation and never got her compensation. This was just a few months ago.

What is frustrating is that with all the public information out there and the warnings, and with so many reputable agencies to help, there are those that choose to ignore what is glaring them in the face and continue to give their $$$ and more importantly, their hopes and dreams, to Mr. Brooks.
