Did the March of Dimes walk with my family this morning in honor of a friends baby who died due to being born prematurely. It was such an amazing turnout and so great to see all the people supporting such a great cause. However, my body was screaming at the end of the 3+ miles for me to take a break, so my butt has been parked on the couch ever since. Thank goodness its Sunday and I don't have much to do.

It never dawned on me to explain why I was doing this, I'm just always in a hurry to get out because she usually has to go too so I feel like we're in there forever.

So... tonight, I walk into the bathroom and find her trying to pee in a cup. I was dumbfounded and just stood there, and she didn't see me at first, but when she finally realized I was there she dropped the cup and immediately put her head in her hands in embarrassment. At first I was like "What the heck are you doing??" but then I quickly changed my tone, because I didn't want her to feel even more embarrassed. I want her to be able to feel comfortable around me and not like she was doing something "wrong" per say... so that hopefully can set a good path for the future when other uncomfortable things come up.

Anyway, I just thought I would share... I kinda thought it was cute she was trying to be like Mommy.
Such a cute story!!! Little ones are hilarious!

And my IM and I had a moment where we both ended up crying over how happy we are that we have become so close, and how we all went into this with an open mind about contact afterward (as in, being okay with it if the relationship didn't develop into lifelong friends, to try to keep our hopes from getting too high, yk?), but are all SOOO over the moon with how everything is going, and that this journey is so much better than any of us imagined it could be, and can't imagine *not* being in each others' lives. So happy you had such a wonderful time!!

I can't believe we are in the 3rd tri already. The time is flying. I'm feeling great, but like some of you, wake up every now and then with my hips hurting a bit. My yoga instructor told me some poses I can do more frequently and that seems to be helping, plus I'm going to get a bigger pillow to sleep with between my legs. After class on Sunday, I slept completely through the night and it was great. She said ideally, I should sleep with my knees a little wider than baby to keep my hips open and that should help a lot. Other than that, I've been sleeping great too. Just hoping it continues.

So excited about this weekend. Flying out with my Mom on Friday afternoon to Houston for IM's shower. I think it is going to be a great trip. I just can't wait for her to feel this little guy squirming all over the place now. She probably isn't going to make it up for any more appointments until I go into labor so that she can save her time off for after he arrives, which I totally understand so I've been emailing her videos of him moving. She has recorded some stories for him and I play them with my Bellybuds just about every night too.

28 week check up went great! Babies weigh 3lb 4 oz & 2 lb 9 oz. I look full term already - imagine at least doubling in size!

    Both are still sideways though.

I have scheduled appts right up to the due date! I work pt so it would be disrespectful to my career if I didn't try to get the appts on my days off!

Sorry to hear of much hip pain. I am not in pain except my restless legs and heartburn, both of which I have better control of. I have insomnia in general and pee every 2 hrs!

Just stopping in to say hello. I had my last OB appt yesterday. I had to cancel the peri appt today. My husband has foot surgery yesterday and I neglected to notice my appt today was scheduled for just an hour before I have to get my kids from school. Usually my husband picks them up. Over all I'm doing ok, I can't really complain too much. My hips and back hurt at times but I feel good. We're supposed to leave Friday for Cleveland, hopefully he'll be ok to drive. He can barely walk right now.

Had a great OB appointment today. Both babies looked fabulous. Each are measuring around 4 pounds and guessed to be about 14 inches long. Heart rates were 162, 164. Dr said I had plenty of fluid and even room for a third one in there, I laughed and said no way!! My stats were great, gained 2 pounds, b/p 110/80, cervix long, thick, and closed. My poor uterus is measuring 44 weeks, yikes! Dr said to keep doing what I am doing and he will see me in two weeks. One baby is head down, woohoo! Now if the other one would quit wasting time and follow its sibling. No c-section here please and thank you...

Yesterday was my 29wk appt as well as our monthly growth scan, but we were w/out internet and posting from my phone is a PITA! So, here's the lowdown....

My A1C came back perfect, so no worries about GD. BP was 100/68, I was not thrilled w/my weightgain (too much IMO!!), but my Dr was thrilled and said I was following exactly where she and the OB want me to be. Fundal height was measuring at 33wks and both HR's were going between 145-158 between the scan and the prenatal appt. We had a different person do our scan this time, and none of us were impressed w/her at all. She gave us NO information whatsoever and I couldn't even see the monitor for most of the scan. We did learn that Baby A weighs approx 2lbs 13oz and measures 28wks 5days and Baby B weighs approx 3lbs and measures at 29wks 2days. Last scan Baby A was head down and Baby B was oblique w/his head to my upper right and butt on his brother's head. Yesterday Baby A was oblique w/his head to my right side, butt on my cervix and looked as if he were kneeling and was facing downwards. Baby B is back to transverse w/his head to my right, back follows along the top of my uterus and legs/feet to my left. The tech gave my IP's only 2 pics this time...1 w/just 2 "circles" that was showing how they are head to head. The 2nd pic...seriously...was of 1 of the umbilical cords. I mean really, who wants a pic of the cord when you can get a profile pic or facial pic? We know that the fluid amt looks great, and while she initially saw my cervix when she started, she didn't try to get a measurement until the very end when I said something to her, and by then Baby A's butt was "shadowing" my cervix. She says "I saw it in the beginning and didn't see any signs of funneling, so you're good." WTF? She told me it wasn't a big deal, so don't worry about it, and next month they would do a transvag to get a good measurement. She didn't go over the growth from the last scan to this one (which they have been doing w/us and is NOTED that they are to give the parents this info) and wasn't nearly as thorough as our normal guy is.

We did discuss the delivery, and my Dr said that as long as I make it to 38wks, we would set an induction date, as the hospital and clinic aren't comfortable w/allowing a twin pg to go too much past 38wks or so. So..."IF" I don't deliver sooner, our induction date is July 14, which happens to be my oldest (and favorite!!) nephew's b-day!! I'll be 38wks 5days. We had looked at that Friday, but when my IP's realized it was Friday the 13th, they literally freaked out and said forget it. I would go in that Fri nite for cervical ripening, then start the "official" induction Sat morning. For me, all it entails is the placement of Cervidil and then breaking my water.

Today I met w/my hemotolgist and we discussed the impending delivery. My hemoglobin yesterday was 9.8, but that was also via capillary, which will always be lower than if you do a venous draw. That means that really my levels would be just above 10. I know that it will drop some between now and delivery, he agreed, and I said that both my comfort level as well as my IP's was for me to have a few more dose of the IV iron to boost my levels a bit, so there was less worry of hemmorhage. He felt that doing 4 more infusions would put me solidly over 10 and looking good come delivery, so it was supposed to be 2 doses a week for 2wks. Well, I figured they'd start next week, but at the desk making the appt, the surgery center asked if I could come over immediately as they wanted to get the 1st one done ASAP. Thankfully it only took them twice this time to get a vein and get the IV going, and the 1 nurse was so awesome...it hurt like a $@#$@#, so she tells me "It's ok, you can swear. We've heard it all...just let it out." LMBO! I was this {} close to taking her up on it!

Next week we meet w/the OB again and will get the schedule for the BPP's (my Dr has been researching it, and said she feels, based on her research, that it's really only done when there may be an issue, so doesn't think we really need to do them. However, since the OB shadowing us prefers to have them done, she will defer to the OB) and discuss delivery again. Not sure what else she wants to go over, but I'm expecting a quick appt.

Traci, have you ever considered bringing one of those re-usable hot packs with you whenever you need to get a blood draw or IV placed? The kind where you push the button, it crystallizes, and then stays warm for an hour? Applying it to the area for a few minutes before the stick generally causes the veins to "pop" some, which usually makes it easier. I'm a hard stick myself; one of my friends recommended this to me and it's been (mostly) smooth sailing since. It came in really useful when I was having weekly infusion treatments a while back.

Grateful to Delphi for my fabulous siggy

Make sure you're well hydrated beforehand too.

That's a great idea. Another nurse (during the last infusion round) suggested using a BP cuff pumped up a few times, but I wasn't thinking of that today. Just wasn't expecting to go in so soon!

I was definately well hydrated today. One of the nurses made a comment that my veins were "too close" to the surface, but I also know that my veins are very small. I figure that as I'm going in so early in the morning, if I make sure I'm drinking a TON the nite before, then get up a bit earlier and start drinking again (man does that sound bad!) 1st thing, that may help make a difference as well.

I'm trying to stay ahead of the game w/these infusions to try and help prevent any potential issues towards the end of the pg or during delivery.

    No GD for me either

Baby was breech at my last ultrasound (about a week ago), and at the beginning of my appt, my midwife felt around and confirmed that she felt his head up by my ribs. Toward the end of the appt, we were talking about it again, and she wanted her student midwife to feel for the head. So, the student starts feeling around, and couldn't find it. My midwife started to feel, and low and behold, we think he flipped during the appt! He had been moving a lot, but I didn't really notice anything weird, because he always moves a lot. Anyway, they were both convinced that they could now feel the baby's head down low. I have another ultrasound in less than two weeks, so I hope that will confirm it!

Does your cervix start ripening on it's own or do you always need cervidel? The last time 2x I was induced because my cervix was getting riper week by week and the OBs were afraid I would deliver in the car hehe so I got my water broken and some pit started.

Wow so he's hopefully head down! These babies still flip around so much I have no idea which way they are laying now.

Well I made it to Ohio and am all settled in. It sucked saying goodbye to the kids and my husband. I have family here but it's still too too quiet and empty in here. Not sure what I'm going to do with all this free time and no kids to yell at or clean up after. Hopefully it's just for a few weeks and then they'll be back with me.

Happy to see all the great updates.

Hope you are all having a very Happy Mother's Day!!! I've had a wonderful last couple of days. I'm feeling great and spent yesterday with IM and her family and friends at her shower and it was wonderful. There were so many people there. Everyone is so supportive and excited for her. It seems that me being there seemed to make it more real for all of them. They were all so nice!

I gave IM her Mother's Day gift early before we left and she loved it! I had a 3D ultrasound done last week and gave her the video and CD with all the pictures.

Here is a pic of me and IM at the shower.

I've had a wonderfully relaxing day with the family today. Brunch this morning at the Cheesecake factory and then home for a very needed nap and now just hanging out before dinner. Next OB appointment is this week.

Christina~ my cervix starts effacing and dilating on it's own and typically early on. We use the cervidil to "boost" things along and works wonderfully allowing me to avoid the use of pitocin. (3 inductions and have never had to have pit!!)

That's what I was wondering. The one time I had cervidil I went from barely a 1 to 4 and then they used pit. I was wondering if I was already ripened and dilated more would it do that again and I could skip the pit. Typically once my water breaks and I get an epidural I go pretty quickly.

My cervix has caused some drama this pregnancy but I'm half expecting it to hang in there til the end and and I'll actually need to be induced. I don't know what the new OB's policy and feelings are on carrying twins past 38 weeks. I was reading there's no real concrete data that they need to be born before 40 weeks. I'll find out next week when I see him for the first time.

And woo thank goodness for insurance. My bills are coming in from the 3 day stay in the antepartum =/

My Dr. Says inducing a preg. can cause problems also. He rec very close monitoring (few times a week) the last few weeks.
