    Default PBO in CT

Is there a way to file a pre-birth order in CT by ourselves? Does anyone know where I can find the forms needed to be completed and where do we file?

    I appreciate any help, comments.

    Thanks

Hi, Selina. To my knowledge, there is no "form" in CT. A Petition for Parentage is the name of a legal petition that an attorney prepares on your behalf. The attorney also prepares a draft order for the court, files any necessary venue petitions, etc. There is a lot more to it than completing a form. You also need an affidavit from the reproductive endocrinologist attesting to certain events and facts, and the filing needs to have certain attachments.

This is why not only do you need the assistance of an attorney, you need an attorney who is experienced in surrogacy law to do this work for you.

I know this is not the answer you were looking for... But you are talking about your child. This is important and you do not want your petition denied! Yet, I read about petitions being denied ALL THE TIME because they were not filed strategically, carefully and correctly.

I hope this helps. Best of luck,
    Diane

    Dear Attorney Hinson,

Thank you for the information. It sounds very complicated. I was reading posts regarding filing in CA and assumed that there are forms in all states. I also saw other IP file by themselves in other states.

I hope its not too late to look for a lawyer now, since we have about 19-20 weeks left until the due date.

    Thank you

Hi, Selina. You should be fine at 19-20 weeks. If you go to the 50-state surrogacy map on my firm website, and then click through to CT, https://www.creativefamilyconnections.com/ct.html, you will see two attorneys listed who are expert in surrogacy law. Feel free to tell them how you found them!

    Good luck!
    Diane
