Red face Major defeat for German IPs

Not only is surrogacy not allowed in Germany, but it seems the children born from surrogacy will not be allowed into Germany. Unbelievable!

    That is shocking and ridiculous.

I have to wonder though... if the German parents are presenting an American birth certificate with both of their names on it (in the case of a PBO) then would Germany even question it? Would the parents have to prove that they gave birth?

You'd think Germany would have learned their lesson about overreaching into the lives of their citizens but apparently old lessons die away. I can't imagine what problem they feel this new law will solve - too many children in general using German resources? There IS an anti-immigrant feeling in Germany, I wonder if this feeds off it somehow.
As far as them calling surrogacy 'immoral', Germany has legalized prostitution so that's a bit hypocritical.

Hi, this is really crazy in Germany
The politican complain that Germany has to few children, but they do not help childless couples. I am soooo angry about the German laws.

My former IPs were German. The german embassy here was giving them a hard time giving the twins passports but they had no problems getting the US passports for them so they could return home. They got the German passports a few weeks after being home.

Yes I think it must be old because don't the twins and Tyler that Kari carried as a TS live in Germany. Of course maybe TS is seen differently than GS.

There is a difference between being residents or citizen...
And also the ts situation is different. Butneither ts or gs is allowed.

Tyler and the twins are residents of germany but are not citizens. They have UK and US citizenship and passports but are allowed to reside there due to their father being married to a German. However they went about it as that I was a mom who just didn't want the kids, surrogacy never was mentioned.

My FIP's just went to court and they approved the US birth certificate and J was granted German citizenship. I was a little worried because of all the paperwork and I thought My hubby and I were going to have to go to Germany. It all worked out fine though so yay!!!
