    Default Teething whitening

I just started using the Crest strips that you use for 2 hours for 7 days. I have had my teeth bleached once over 4 years ago and I remember how much pain I was in the rest of the day (just breathing hurt my teeth) so I decided to try the home stuff this time.

My teeth are hurting today after only one application, is there anything I can do to avoid this? No major issues going on, I had a check up and cleaning less than 6 months ago and all was fine. Does Sensodyne really work as I read that can help with tooth sensitivity.

trying not leaving them on for as long as they say. Mine get super sensitive if I follow the directions. Also, using sensodyne toothpaste can help with the pain afterwards I've heard. I drink waaay too much tea and would love to get mine professionally whitened but they won't do it during pregnancy.

Sensodyne is a great toothpaste for sensitive teeth but it has to be used every day.

I only did it for an hour and a half today. I'm thinking i may need to do it at night before bed so maybe it wont be so noticable? I drink DP and tea and even though I had my teeth whitened 4 years ago, the women in our family are prone to our teeth yellowing really easily. BUT the pro whitening was so painful, i'd rather be put under for it and the entire next day than go through that again.

I had ordered the Crest ones for my dd after her braces came off. The directions said to do it every night, but if you get sensitivity then go every other night. So far so good doing that.

The best thing to combat sensitivity is straight fluoride, but Sensodyne works well too. You may want to think about asking your dentist if (s)he can dispense some to you if the Sensodyne doesn't help. Good luck!

I had sensitive teeth and I uses sensadine (sp) but the tooth paste was awful. It doesn't do anything to freshen breath. So I switched to crest pro health enamal care and it really helped with the sensitivity and is just an overall great toothpaste. But I do suggest not leaving them on for the whole 2 hours...

They have actually changed their flavor recently - I don't know if you used it when the flavor was "Mint Essence" (aka SOAP!!), but it's much better now.

The 2 hour ones are alot stronger. I use the crest ones that you only leave on 30 minutes and I have minimal sensitivity. The ones you are using are ment for fast whitning so they are alot stronger and make you more sensitive. Mine take about 2-3 weeks.

The crest strips are actually really bad for your teeth. Your teeth have pores and they dehydrate with bad whitening systems. The best thing to do is have your dentist fit you with some silicone trays and give you some professional at home gel. NOT the in office crap. Whitening in an hour is equally harsh as Crest strips.

This is just my knowledge from managing a hygiene dept for a dentist. I have no schooling on it, but that's the best advice I've got. Hope it feels better!

I've used these in the past, and they worked! I would put them on right after I got out of the shower and keep them on for 30 minutes while getting ready. I didn't have any sensitivity. I do, however, have sensitivity right now, because I always do when I'm pregnant... And I love my Sensodyne!

If you have a mouth guard or whitening tray, you can put some sensodyne (or professional strength Fluoride toothpaste from your dentist) and wear that for a few hours after you do the strips.

Potassium Nitrate 5% is the ingredient that you are looking for. Sensodyne gets all the publicity, but many sensitive toothpastes also have this ingredient
