I was wondering if there are any gestational surrogate moms from the Virginia area? If so I have a few questions I would like to ask ?
Thank you

I'm a GS from Virginia. Currently doing a TS. I'd be happy to help if I can!
Whoa, you're in Hayes?? I live in North, about 2 minutes from the Mathews county line! Also, I looked at your other posts and I'm pretty sure I've used the same attorney that you did. Is she in Richmond? If so, I really liked her.

Yes, I am in Hayes.. Oh wow I am excitied that I have found someone so
close. I just was curious about the law in Virginia about can't remiburse for lost wages if I am on bedrest. What do you do then? I have ask my lawyer already but I am waiting on a answer back I was just curious about it.
Thank you for all your help
I'm in VA but I'm not help at all, we're not using any VA laws. I just wanted to say Welcome!!

Colleen Quinn must be your attorney. I got backed into a corner by this for my first ALL INCLUSIVE contract for $21k. She recommended one of her friend attorneys that had never done surrogacy but lied to me and said she had (until we were in court to get a PBO done prior to achieving pregnancy and my attorney looked at me and said 'Im so excited, Ive never done surrogacy before.' SMH)
It depends which route you are taking. Are you doing a PBO? They are TOUGH as heck and even more expensive than they are tough. We are talking $20,000 or more for the legal process of getting a PBO for a baby that doesn't exist. If you are doing a PBO, then yes, you probably have to do all inclusive. If you do all inclusive, don't be suckered into a low ball number. My travel wasn't even able to be reimbursed so my first 2 months of driving back and forth to richmond for home insems I spent about $500 in gas and I never got that money back!
Watch Colleen too, if she is your IPs attorney, she is VERY IP friendly, charges an arm and a leg, but she gets the work done. But you will get an attorney recommended to you that knows nothing about surrogacy then that attorney who is friends with Colleen will call Colleen for advice and Colleen being very IP friendly (especially when she represents the IPs) may leave you high and dry.
Let me know if you have anymore questions!

I am currently in Virginia, as are my IP's.![]()
Yes she is my lawyer and only mine . I guess I can be glad of that. The IPs will be applying for a birth certificate after baby is born to remove my name so I guess no they are not . Im excited abou this and it's my first journey . I don't want to be greedy but I also dont want to be left with unexpected bills etc.
So my question is what do you think it acceptable for me to ask since state of va has so many you can't dos
Thank yOu
You can include lost wages if the contract is not being ratified by the court for the PBO process so you should be good. If you end up having to do all inclusive, sit down and figure out what 20 wks of bedrest and lost wages would cost and give them that number. It will be astronomical but if they won't agree to have 'al a carte' expenses, then they will end up paying a lot more for a normal routine pregnancy/birth. I've heard as high as $60k for an experienced TS with an all inclusive contract.
