Default Any good attorneys in Chicago or surrounding suburbs?

Ugh. My IP's have been leaving messages to two attorneys that were recommended by the fertility clinic for the last two weeks and neither of them have returned their calls! Any of you lovely ladies have a recommendation for a good attorney or two?

I heart Julie Tavoso. Nidhi Desai and Marcy Miller are also frequently used. Good luck!

I used Julie Tavoso and loved her. She's quick and easy to deal with.

I used Nora Zuckerman (who came highly recommended to me by an IM) and I was very pleased!

As much as I value Marcy Miller's legal opinion, this current journey, she was pretty frustrating to work with.

Thank you Natasha for my amazing siggy!!

    Default attorney in Chicago

We used Marcy and love her..... she provided much practical advice, as well as legal advise. Since we weren't using an agency, this was extremely helpful. She spent a lot of time with us and did not charge us extra.

Julie Tavoso is excellent. She was my attorney for both of my surro journeys. A close friend of mine who has also been a GS in Illinois worked with a different lawyer but her IPs worked with Julie Tavoso and they were super happy. They told my friend that Julie rescued the surrogacy arrangement when there agency almost screwed things up completely.

We are currently using Nidhi Desai.
To be honest, she's very hard to get in contact with and very slow to respond to emails (if she responds at all).
However, her secretaries are very nice and very easy to reach.

So interesting how each person's experience can be so different. Attorney I'm working with is Marcy Miller. I think she is very fast, very friendly, very easy to deal with, and thorough in protecting my side of things.
My IPs are with Julie Tavoso and we all find her incredibly slow and not-so-easy to work with.

I have used Marcy Miller & Karen Spence. I enjoyed working with them both. They were very quick and went over the contract line by line to help make sure we knew what was in our contract. The bad thing is a lot of people are off for spring break and that may be why you are not getting any response.
    Best of luck!

My IPs use Nidhi Desai and love her. I don't deal with her personally (obviously), but our contract has been a nightmare on my attorney's end (long story, lets just say my attorney will not be doing anything after the contract) and Nidhi & her staff have been awesome trying to get everything done in a timely manner, even with dealing with an incompetant attorney on my side. She's worked late and made phone calls and done everything she could to get our contract finalized in time.

My IPs also used Julie Tavoso and we had the same problem with her. Our fairly standard contract negotiatios drug on because she took so long to respond to any change requests, and she totally ignored half the things we told her. After 3 months I told my agency I was about to walk because I felt like their lawyer was trying to screw me over. Magically, contract got done that very day. Although I will say that both my agency and my attorney said that this was very unusual behavior for her as they have found her to be great to work with in the past. Maybe she's going through some personal stuff lately or something.
