Default Dieting and Exercise (March thread)

Ok so here is a fresh new thread for a new month!

I ran a Half Marathon today. I could tell that I am still out of shape and not enough good training but I did not walk and I did not get a side ache and so I am so happy about that. I do not have official time yet but I think it was about 1:48. It is so crazy the mind games you have to play while running. My next big thing, is the Tough Mudder a 10 mile adventure run on April 1st I am still hanging on to those mean old 10 pounds and can not wear my pre-pregnancy clothes yet I am also still so bloated and have not had AF yet. Been doing good getting some workouts in but still need to work on the diet.

Thanks!! I guess it is not the pounds that bother me that much in fact I have not been on scale in a few weeks. It is really that I want to wear all the clothes in my closet, I am too cheap to go shopping Also, I hate to even share this cuz I know people might want to slap me but my belly is driving me crazy. I do not like that it is pudgy, or maybe it is just that I am impatient and want it to be flat again. Plus maybe it will never be like it use to be and I just need to face it and accept it, right? My ab seperation has gotten worse.

I hope all is well with you!

Just got official Half Marathon Results,

Time: 1:46 or 8 min mile pace, I was 15th in my female age group and 85th female overall, I did not think I did that well, but not even too far behind my best at 1:40

That is absolutely awesome! Good for you! When I did my 5k last July my finish time was like 45 minutes. That about a 15 minute mile, right? LOL

    you are doing amazing!!!

Things are starting to settle down around me after our move (yes once again ) and I have gotten a couple of runs in on Thursday and Friday...skipped today but will be running again tomorrow. I managed to get down below 130 about a month or so ago but I am still teethering just around that 130 mark. Totally working my abglider almost daily as well and I can see some nice changes to my belly section.

Wow! Denise thats awesome!! gosh I think your time is wonderful, I ran a mile in 9 minutes a few days ago and I couldn't emagine doing it faster. I thought I would die.

Which do you think is more important when exercising.

Running faster or running for a long period of time?

Maybe running for 20 minutes at a fast pace or running for 60 minutes at a slower pace??

My son said I run to slow, I thought the longer I could run the better?

I apologize in advance for my spelling. I'm not stupid I just can't spell.

Fie--Hope the move is going ok...I can say that I hope to never move again, it is a hastle. I have never tried an ab glider thing but if you see result it must be a good thing, keep up the hard work and fitting it all in with the chaos going one.

Sillymommy--You will benefit from both types of fitness, if you run shorter distance but at a high rate of speed you really work those muscles, if you go longer distance at a comfortable pace you work your endurance and your heart more One thing to keep in mind is, you will burn about 100 calories per mile weather you walk or run it. Also, the more effort you put out in anything the more results you will get. Why not mix it up, do a long coforable run sometimes and other times do a quicker shorter run, eventually the two will come together and you will be run long and at a faster pace

Denise, that's an awesome time!! Congrats! And good luck on the Tough Mudder -- a friend wants me to do one this year, but first I need to get back to a regular workout routine.

I did run 5 miles on the treadmill yesterday, though. I averaged a 9:50 pace, but ran the last 1 1/2 miles at 8:57. I have two weeks to work on my time before the St. Patty's day 5 mile race -- I really just want to run a good race and not worry about time.

AllyCat--Hey, how are you? So you will transfer in March...awesome news!!

Michelle--Isn't hard not to think about your time or pace even when you know it is ridiculous..LOL Also, it is not like it even matters, it is about getting out there and doing it. So silly. I am impressed good job on getting back to it and running so hard!

SillyMommy--You are welcome, not sure if I helped or just went in a circle with explaining...ha, I am quite sleepy today.

Wow Denise...a half marathon? Where do you find the energy??!

Ok so Ive been a lazy tard...although I had a funeral on Saturday and afterwards, my cousins and my mom and I all hung out until like 3:00 in the morning last night so needless to say, I slept in today and then just had a lazy day. But I really need to get on this exercise thing. I need to hit a Zumba class and get motivated. Does anyone else do Zumba?!?

    I'm here! I'm here!

Sorry ladies, been super busy and super frustrated (both in my personal life and on the surrogacy front). lol

I'm still trudging along, even though some days I am REALLY not feeling the 'exercise groove'. I am really not seeing scale movement, but I am starting to bulk up again, and my clothes are really baggy. Hopefully my scale will cooperate soon.....

Denise! I am super happy for you!!! Virtual 'high five'!

I've had a terrible cold most of the week and haven't worked out since Monday....grrr. I'm hoping to get some rest this weekend and kick the sickness and get back to running. I have a 5 mile race to run next Saturday, I cannot be sidelined much longer!!
