Using oral Progesterone instead of supps..

This cycle I asked the RE if I could use the oral and shots instead of the shots and supps. I hate the mess the supps make. He agreed it was fine. I am just curious if it will mess anything up? Cause if it is fine why wouldnt they just recommend them in the first place over the supps??

Hi Kim, I have oral progesterone capsules but have been told to use them either vaginal or rectal! It is quite bizarre as the instructions with them clearly state FOR ORAL USE ONLY! I did ask the clinic why and they said that they used to prescribe them for oral use but found that the side affects experienced were much worse for most ladies so they advise them to used as pessaries instead.

I have been tempted to use them orally as it would be so much less mess but the thought of having more wind, more cramps and more bloating doesn't really sit well with me so not risking it!

I am just wondering if the RE feel the supps help better with plantation? Maybe that is why they usually have you take those?? They said the Orall was fine with the shots. But I wanna make sure it does not mess anything up either.

I have used oral progsterone with all but 1 or 2 cycles. I've had several successful cycles with the oral progesterone/PIO combo. I ven was just on oral progesterone only with my most recent pregnancy, my daughter.

Vaginally it gets right to the source but oral is fine too. The side effects orally can be icky so I prefer not to take them that way.

Last pregnancy I did oral and suppositories. They were from the same bottle.. which kind of grossed me out so I put half in a different bottle.

Anyway, I don't understand, if your RE says it's fine to do why are you worried? They want the best results too.
