Sherry, yes, I believe all international surrogacy cases are routinely transferred to the High Court because of the compensation factor.
It is generally suggested for IPs to have a legal review at the outset of international surrogacy to include covering both the immigration and parenthood issues. I believe Natalie Gamble or Louisa Ghevaert charge less than 1,500 pounds for this service. We had a legal review at A City Law Firm whom are recommended by the British Surrogacy Centre.
Nikki - thanks for the advice regarding us joining COTS or SUK. I would certainly do things differently if we were just starting out as I do think we'd have been more successful going through COTS or SUK. IFs certainly have a lot to consider and, as you say, would match easier going the host route. But I guess knowing our own original feelings on this, the host route can seem more complex - having to also find an ED match (which is not easy in the UK), dealing with the added practicalities, wrestling with issues around open or anon donor (and the implications on the child). The traditional route will always look much 'simpler' for IFs despite there being fewer TSs available.
Norma - Good luck with the sibling project. What an inspiring journey.
