Default herpes type 2 transmission in surrogacy

Is it possible to do AI surrogacy if the IF has herpes type 2 using home insemination. There is conflicting info as to how it is transmitted. It sounds like skin to skin is necessary for transmission. I'm wondering if it can be transmitte through the semen? Does this leave only GS for us where sperm washing takes away the threat of transmission?

Yes it is still possible. The risk is not in transmission to baby or carrier at the time of insemination. The risk involves the fact that if the carrier has an active outbreak at the time she goes into active labor labor she cannot have a vaginal birth because the baby could contract it during delivery.

    Good Luck!
