YOU DON'T!! You need to buy Romaine Hearts (3 per bag) and cut it up as you need it. Once the knife hits the lettuce it generally has 3 days of life. Also, in the bag salad they put "chemicals" on it.

I find that whole heads of romaine last much longer but the bagged spinach isn't as bad :)

When we buy the bagged, we just clip it shut and put it in the temp controlled drawer in the fridge. It stays good for 3-4 days at most. I'm not sure I'd want to eat it after that, even if it looked okay. But we generally eat it before it can go bad.

Ditto on the heads lasting longer though. :)

I normally will put it in a click lock tupperware(I use the ziplock disposable ones) and then put it in the veggie drawer and turn the moisture setting on low. It lasts long enough to be eaten before it goes bad. This week I bought the mixed greens salad in the click lock container. I hope it works just as well.

I buy organic, so no chemicals there.

I use my food sealer thing... And it stays fresh at least a week. We usually don't have it much longer than a week, though.

I buy the whole heads of butter lettuce. They still have the roots on them and will stay alive just on the moisture present in your fridge. I have had them stay good for at least a week, but I don't know about leftovers. Once I tear one and make a salad we don't have anything left.

The green bags and green containers really work! I can make a bag of spinach last a week in one of those babies! I got my green containers at CVS really cheap and I love them! Just keep the moisture out as that will make the produce go bad faster.

If I buy bag salad, it's usually eaten that day or the next. Rarely are there any leftovers for another day. However, if there are, I put it in the Tupperware fridgesmart container and it will last about 4-5 days.

A folded up dry paper towel in the bag of lettuce will help.

    Not all bags have chemicals.

TJ has some varieties as does Fresh Market and Earth Fare.

Additionally, get some stay fresh tupperware and you can get a couple of additional days.

Yes! Organic last a lot longer...around a week. I always buy in the plastic containers, not the bag, but I don't think that makes any difference.
