I became curious to what extent we (females on the board) are familiar with our own bodies.

Please feel free to comment. :sunshine:

Oh gee... I had a difficult enough time looking for my IUD string... let alone try and reach in to touch my cervix!

Here's a link for information on how to do a cervical self exam.

As to feeling it, you use your finger.:D

Really? How do you get your finger (sorry to be so blunt) that far up from that angle??

I have felt it! In fact I felt ANdreas' head when I felt pushy at 10cm! Now that was AWESOME!

I have not seen my own cervix. Not sure how unless someone video's an exam

You can look at your own cervix with a mirror. See link above.

As too feeling it, most find it easiest when standing in the shower with one foot on the side. Depending on your time in your cycle, your cervix will be in a different location inside of you vagina. Sometimes it is higher up and other times it is quit easy to reach.

You can also reach your own cervix when seated on the toilet or laying down in bed.

Doesn't anyone here use the cervix in foreplay? It is very feeling part of your female anatomy. Perhaps you should prompt your partners to find it and manually play with it a bit. :HEARTSMIL Running circles around the exterior rim with a finger is normally quite pleasurable for most women.

I have several of them. I got them from the physician who provided support for home births in my area.

I guess we have a very open family. My three older children, who are now adults, were just laughing the other day about playing with my speculums. The nick named them duck bills and use to chase one another around the house with them while shouting out quacking sounds! :rotfl:

Looked and touched, yes. I'm all about knowing everything I can, so even if I learn the slightest bit, it may help with my being a TS. That may sound weird to some, but it's just how I am - a knowitall.

My midwife showed me mine with a mirror and I feel my cervix when I am preggo (I have very fast labor.....it stop me from running to L & D every day at the end of the pregnancy.) Feeling your cervix is also a good way to know if you are ovulating soon. (Hard as your forhead.....or as soft as your lips)

i have seen mine in the mirror, and I have checked myself during my cycles and for dilation in labor- I am very familiar with my own cervix!

touch - yes
seen - yes...on a video monitor under high magnification. I had an abnormal pap back in 2006 and they sent me for a colposcopy. I questioned and pestered and bothered the doctor doing it until he turned the monitor enough for me to see. - I really need to get one of those clear speculums...

Yes to both.
And I also own a speculum. But my dh doesn't think it's very funny that I remind him it's dishwasher safe! :haha:
(disclaimer: I've never put it in there & I wouldn't put it in with dishes)

Ive seen it and touched it, though it does kind of weird me out, because it's an internal organ. I also own a speculum, but have not used it.

Oops, I hit my answer too fast... I didn't mark that I HAVE felt my own cervix. Fascinating little bugger. :)

Checking CP is a great way to know when you are fertile. I have not seen it though.

I saw my cervix when I was 18. Went to PP and got a pap - they asked if I wanted to see my cervix and I said yes. So the nurse held a mirror and I got to see it. :)

I've tried multiple times to feel my own cervix and have never been able to. It makes me feel queasy. The idea of it is interesting to me, so I really don't know why! I've felt other peoples cervixes, ovaries, etc...no problem, though.

Oh, and if you want to see someone else's cervix..check out this site, if you haven't seen it: http://www.beautifulcervix.com/cervix-photo-galleries/photos-of-cervix/. A student midwife took pictures of her own cervix every day for a month, pretty neat (if you like that sort of thing!).

OK, I am not really a cervix oriented person. I figure I have a spleen too and never had the urge to see what it looks like :toothless
I just wanted to add that I thought the thread title was Looking for your cervix. I thought someone had lost theirs! LOL

mine is far too high up to feel with my short little stumpy fingers, heck the OB and RE have problems finding it! lol

I have seen my cervix on tv via a camera during a colposcopy, that was really cool. I feel it all the time to check CP. I cannot reach it all later in pregnancy.

I've felt mine plenty, it's one of the ways I can determine where I am in relation to ovulation. I've never seen my own cervix, but I've seen others.

No I haven't seen mine. It's one of those things that I know it's there and that is all I need to know. I am not so much into looking at it.
If I have felt it I didn't know what I was feeling. I am also not so much into feeling it. I just need to know it's there. My midwife or OB lets me know it's still there each time I go for testing.

I guess I am the minority here. I just don't have the desire to see and feel every single part of my body. Not that I think it's a bad thing...it's just too weird for me.

I can't even REACH my cervix. I'm also in the minority where I prefer to NOT have my cervix fiddled with during foreplay or sex. I'll do my best to avoid it if at all possible, it's just not comfortable to me.
