Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

Surrogate Mothers Online Q & A
  • Q & A: Legal/Contract Issues - Surrogacy

Topics may include contracts, legal fees, establishing parental rights, etc.

    12. I am planning on being a GS. I have legal coverage through my husband's work. Kinda like an HMO for Legal. Can I use my own attorney or do I have to use the attorney the IP's or agency want me to use. - Anonymous in Southern CA - Top

No one can tell you you have to use a particular attorney. I would think the IP's and/or agency would be happy to have you use those lawyers to
review the contract on your behalf since the intended parents would not have to pay for your attorney's expenses in that case. The only thing I would worry about using those lawyers is if they would be familiar with surrogacy and would be able to fully protect your interests.
