    11. I would very much like to donate my eggs, but I have had an abortion. Physically or medically, does this make me ineligible to donate? - Anonymous - Top

    Dear Anonymous,

Having had an abortion really has no bearing on whether you can be an egg donor or not. It is actually indication that you are fertile (If you don't have any children of your own). Many women become egg donors or surrogates after having an abortion, as they feel a sense of regret or loss. I can not speak for all women, and, as I have never had one, I can't fully understand the emotions that result from having one.

The only thing that could cause you to be medically unable to donate eggs after an abortion would be infection from the procedure itself. But that would be pretty rare.

    Good Luck,
    Lisa - Updated: January 21, 2000
