Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

Surrogate Mothers Online Q & A
  • Q & A: Medical Issues - Gestational Surrogacy

Topics may include the risks involved in surrogacy, side effects from meds, questions about protocol, etc.

    17. I will begin the surrogacy process in the next week and would like to know if drugs (shots) are always necessary. - Anonymous in Long Island - Top

Concerning shots??? I would follow all drs. orders. If you don't take shots, it may not work. Please follow the drs. orders. I did hear of a surrogate that didn't have to use the shots and got pregnant, however that was her drs. protocol.

    Good luck to you!
    Sherry

(((Editor's note: The most commonly used medicines in IVF are lupron, estrogen and progesterone. Each of these medicines *are* available in forms other than the injectible variety. Consult your doctor if you are concerned about taking the shots. Perhaps, s/he would be willing to prescribe a substitute for you. If not, take heart, the shots are not that bad...really! :) - Jenn Z.))) - Updated: January 17, 2000
