Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

Surrogate Mothers Online Q & A
  • Q & A: Typical Requirements & Screening - Egg Donation

Topics may include typical requirements for becoming an egg donor, the screening process, qualities to look for in an egg donor/IP via egg donation, etc.

    9. I am very interested in helping a loving couple have a child. As a mother, I know it is the most wonderful miracle in the world. I am concerned, however, that my parents may have their privacy invaded if questions are asked regarding health issues, etc. They are very private people. How do I keep this information between me and the couple I wish to donate to? Is this even possible? Peace in Eastern Washington - Top

    Dear Peace,

When it comes to egg donation through an agency be prepared to fill out numerous forms on not only your health but the health of your family . This includes your brothers, sisters, mother, and father. Sometimes the questions even ask about Aunts and Uncles when it comes to phycological disorders (aka depression, bipolar, ect), mental retardation. It is very important to fill out these forms to the best of your ability and knowledge parents rely on these to help watch for health problems in their childrens future

Most agencies do anonymous donations ( there are a select few who do known donations though ), so you will not meet or talk with "your couple". The agency usually gives them your profile without names, birthdays, or any specifics about you. Some couples select on whether you look similar to them while others choose based on your personality, schooling, and interests.

Your parents rights and privacy should not be violated in any way if the process is done right.

    Good luck in your journey!
