Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

Surrogate Mothers Online Q & A
  • Q & A: Typical Requirements & Screening - Egg Donation

Topics may include typical requirements for becoming an egg donor, the screening process, qualities to look for in an egg donor/IP via egg donation, etc.

    3. I am 20 years old. I will be 21 in Jan. 2000 I have HPV and I was wondering if that disqualifies me for egg donation. Ihave not had any symptoms for 2 years. I would also like to know the specific requirements for egg donation. - Sara in TX - Top

Each agency and clinic are different with their criteria and protocols for egg donation. I beleive HPV is considered a sexually transmitted disease, therefore some may not accept you in their program, but others may not think it's a worry. As for the requirements, that also is a preference each clinic and agency make on their own. The general requirements are:

Be between the age of 21-34

    Have at least 1 child

No known family history of genetic disabilities,
    abnormalities or disease

Have the time to be able to go in for Dr's appts. for blood tests and sonograms every other day for a period of 2-3 weeks until the retreival.

Don't mind giving yourself injections on a daily basis for a period of 2-3 weeks.

Can follow very specific medical protocol.
