    11. I am currently 43 and would like to be a surrogate via IVF. However, some of my menstrual period have been a little "light" lately. I was wondering if an older woman cannot provide a good "host" uterus if they are becoming closer to "the change?" - Cindy - Top

    Dear Cindy,

From all of the information that agencies and doctors have sent me and what I have researched. Most of these professionals prefer that gestational surrogates be 35 and younger. Especially now that you are going through menopause you are less likely to be a candidate.

    Good Luck
    Jennifer

(Editor's Note: There have been a few cases where the intended parent's mother has carried the child, so it may be possible for you to carry. The best way to find out if you would be a good candidate would be to consult your doctor. -Jenn Z.) - Updated: January 17, 2000
