Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

Surrogate Mothers Online Q & A
  • Q & A: Typical Requirements & Screening - Surrogacy

Topics may include the screening process, qualities to look for in an SM/IP, typical requirements for becoming an SM, etc.

    15. Hi, my wife & I have a surrogate. She is very excited about doing this for us. However we found out that the clinic requires the surrogate to have children. We already had some lab work done & had our medical records transferred to the clinic, but when we made an appointment with the phychologist she was shocked that the clinic didn't tell us that. Now what do we do??? - Kevin/Theresa in Concord, CA - Top

I'm not sure what happened there with the clinic and the psychologist but, if you are both happy with your soon to be surrogate and you have a VERY good contract and if your lawyers know about this situation, I would think the most important thing is that all 3 of you (or 4 of you if she has a husband or boyfriend) agree and get along and you feel that you're a match. I think this is a great thing. You might tell the psychologist that your OK with the surrogate not having children. It's you two that will be dealing with your surrogate though out your experience. I hope this helps.

    Good Luck!
