Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

Surrogate Mothers Online Q & A
  • Q & A: Typical Requirements & Screening - Surrogacy

Topics may include the screening process, qualities to look for in an SM/IP, typical requirements for becoming an SM, etc.

    8. I have had 2 successful pregnancies 4 and 6 years ago. Both pregnancies went fine, and I had no complications or health problems since then. But I have been unable to get motivated enough to loose my pregnancy weight gains (plus some additional from prior to my pregnancies). My question is would I still be a qualified candidate for surrogacy, considering I am about 60 pounds overweight? - Anonymous - Top

It might be more difficult to find IPs depending on their attitude about pre-pregnancy weight. Some doctors believe that weight can be a factor in fertility as well as putting you at risk for a more difficult pregnancy and pregnancy related problems (gestational diabetes foremost). But, I'm sure there are many doctors and IPs out there who would be willing to work with you. It's a matter of finding the right IPs for you -- ones you feel comfortable with, have things in common with, etc.

I wish you luck in your search.
