Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

Surrogate Mothers Online Q & A
  • Q & A: Just Starting Out - Egg Donation

For those just starting down the egg donation path. Topics may include finding the right match, pros and cons of anonymous vs. known donor, independent vs. and agency or broker, where to start, etc.

    9. I want to donate one of my eggs to a someone who wants to have a baby, but can't, or even a clinic that takes donations. Is there more information or phone numbers where I can find out more information on donating my egg? I am 20 years old. - Anonymous - Top

    Dear Anonymous,

    Please follow this link...

    http://www.surromomsonline.com/links.htm

It contains the names of various agencies and infertility clinics listed by state. Your best bet would be to contact one of the listed agencies or post an ad on SMO as a potential egg donor. The ads on SMO are completely free.

    Anonymous,

I would suggest calling your local fertility clinics as a starting point. Many clinics advertise for egg donors in magazines, newspapers, etc.

Being an egg donor requires more than donating one egg. You need to have physical and psycological testing prior to approval for egg donation. Once chosen by a couple from your written profile of physical appearance, family medical history, etc., you will need to do injections of fertility hormones to produce several eggs during one cycle which can then be retrieved through a needle aspiration for fertilization in vitro by the intended father's sperm before being transferred to the uterus of the intended mother or a surrogate depending on the fertility problems of the intended parents.
