    33. What are the advantages/disadvantages of being an GS surrogate as opposed to being a AI surrogate? - Susan in FL - Top

I had progesterone shots and estrace pills to take prior the IVF transfer and I continued the progesterone shots once per night (in the hip) for the following 10/12 weeks after. I think that was the worst DISadvantage of being a surrogate thru IVF (GS). The advantage, I guess, depending on your views, is that the baby would not be genetically yours.

    Susan,

Advantages are, you don't have to do the shots! Yeah! Our success rate is higher and our pregnancies occur much faster. We also have fewer multiple births which decreases maternal risk factors. You have a deeper connection to the child and your couple. I loved AI and its the only method I will ever do.

Disadvantages are, not many, except some see the biological link as you're giving up your child. But if you have the correct mind pattern, it's not your child.
