    34. How did the hospital respond to you as a new parent, and not the birth parent? Did you have any problems with bonding? Did the AI have a lot of contact with baby while in the hospital? How did you handle all of the hospital treatment? - Kristy - Top

Well I can't really answer your questions at this point since our baby isn't due until April but I can tell you what I have discovered so far. When I contacted the hospital where we plan to deliver they were very understanding. I explained that SM did not want baby to stay in her room and that we would like to have a room to stay in with the baby. The director of women's services said that would not be a problem and that if there were no rooms available they would find us a place to stay even if it was the Dr's lounge.

I do not expect to have any problems with bonding as I will be taking care of the baby from birth on and I also plan on inducing lactation so that I can nurse the baby.

As I stated earlier our SM does not want the baby to stay with her in the hospital. She said once she delivers the baby, her job is done and the baby is all mine from then on. We do plan on giving her a few hours alone with the baby to do or say what ever she needs to in order to have closure and feel good about what she is doing.

Overall, we are expecting our hospital experience to be very much like any new parents.
