    17. i am a 27 with 3 beautiful children who after haveing the third child i had my tubes tied (thinking that i would stay with the man who fathered my children)i am with a great man (4 years now)we were woundering if we could either dontae my eggs or become a surrogate to get my tubes untied or is this even possiable - Betty in Southern CA - Top

    Betty,

I have heard of tubal reversals being done but I'm not sure of the success rate. It is my understanding that you can be an egg donor even if your tubes are tied and yes you can be a surrogate but only a gestational surrogate and not a traditional surrogate.

Betty, You could do both egg donation and surrogacy if you want. If you are hoping to make enough money doing either of these to have your tubes untied, you would probably want to go through surrogacy since most egg donors don't get paid very much. It is possible to be a surrogate using the egg and sperm of the intended parents and then it doesn't matter that your tubes are tied.

Before making any decisions, I would set up a consultation with and obstetrician or a reproductive endocrinologist to find out if getting your tubes untied is possible, what the chance of success is, and how much it will cost before going through surrogacy or egg donation.

    Best of luck,

    Betty,

Yes. That is very much possible. And having your tubes untied is not guaranteed to work. BUT you would be helping couples who dearly want to have a baby. If I were you I would start out as an egg donor first. Then after you have done two egg donations, try gestational surrrogacy. Gestational surrogacy has a lot of trials and can take a long time to get started.
