    19. Why and how would anyone EVER want to give up their bodies and go through all that pain and heart ache only to have the child they developed in thier own body taken away from them the minute after they are born? That is beyond me. - Yenni in Courtenay, BC Canada - Top

    Yenni,

Yikes! Those questions are rough ones. First of all we all make the scarifices with any pregnancy and I have seen the rewards of my children and believe all people who choose to have a child should have all those joys.

There is so much joy in this. There really are no words to explain how great this can be. To look past all the negative and see the positive is the first
step into knowing all the joy of surrogacy.

Obviously you have gotten your opinion of surrogacy relationships from trash talk shows and gossip newspapers. If you had seen any serious pieces on surrogacy, you would know that most of these wonderful women choose to be surrogates because they want to help someone know and experience the joys of parenthood. Most of them have had easy prior pregnancies, with easy labor/deliveries. A lot of surrogates also have friends/family members who
have gone through infertility themselves and they see this as a way of easing someone's pain.

Besides, the baby is never ripped away from them the moment it is born. Usually there are phone calls, letters, even visits over the years. Sometimes, the same surrogate is willing to go through a second pregnancy for the same couple because their relationship is so good.

Before you judge, you must walk a mile in the other's shoes. I respect that surrogacy is not for you, but don't judge others who feel it IS for THEM.
