Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

Surrogate Mothers Online Q & A
  • Q & A: Emotional Issues - Egg Donation

Topics may include the IM's feelings about not being the biological mother of her child, the IM's and ED's feelings regarding anonymity, etc.

    1. What was the recovery stage like after the days of injections and the egg retrieval process? I soon will be an egg donor through CHR and I would like to inquire information from someone who has shared the experience. Also, were there any regrets? I ask because a few women that I've discussed this with feel if they were to be an egg donor they would feel incomplete knowing that a child which is biologically half theirs has no further connection with them in life outside of DNA. - Vale - Top

As a previous donor, I can tell you I had no regretful feelings whatsoever. I know that with my help I assisted in helping to create a family. I never considered the eggs retreived as being my babies, it's just tissue and all I did was give the potential of a baby being created. However, there are women who do feel that their eggs are children, and could never be a donor or an AI
surrogate. It's not an issue to take lightly, you must really think about what you are doing and if your emotional well being is going to be
compromised. Especially those who have never had a child, and don't really know what they are giving up....
