Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

    2. How do I figure out how much to ask in compensation for donating eggs? I know you said the average is two to three thousand, but how do I narrow it down from there? I want the price to be fair to the parents and to me. Also, I'm on depo-provera. Will that affect donation? Would I have to stop taking it? - Anonymous - Top

    Dear Anonomoyous,

Deciding on a fee for egg donation varies greatly, and depends on your education level, ethic background, genetic makeup, and your various talents and interests. An average fee in California may be high for other parts of the country. Communication is definately a key factor in deciding how much money you should be compensated in going through the whole process. Anywhere from 2,000.00 to 5,000.00 is considered normal. Though the average is 3,000.00. As far as the birth control issue, I think 4 to 6 months off the depo prova is standard.
