Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

    6. Please don't think this the only criteria I am looking into, but this is the one I don't seem to be able to find the answer to. I need to know what type of monetary arrangement is usually made. I am not doing this for the money, but it is a service-the good Lord forgive me the use of that term- I will be providing and I need advice. I don't wish to suck the parents dry, but I would like a decent compensation. Help, please? - Monique in NH - Top

    Hi Monique,

All surrogacy arrangements are different, but, I will try to give you a list of the "usual" expenses that many surrogacy contracts cover.

Surrogacy Fee (usually ranging between $10,000 and $15,000 for a first time surrogate)

Multiples Fee ($2-3,000 per additional child)

Invasive procedure fee (amnio, reduction, c-section) - $500

    Maternity Clothes ($500 - $750)

Medical Insurance (if surrogate does not already have a policy to cover pregnancy)

Life Insurance ($250,000 policy naming surrogate's family as beneficiaries)

    Travel and childcare expenses

Household help if bedrest is required ($200/week)

And of course, the intended parents should cover your medical and psychological screening as well as all other medical expenses not covered by your insurance. In addition, they should pay for the legal fees involved with the process (including a lawyer to review the contract for you).

    I hope this helps!
