    5. Insurance won't cover surrrogacy. Do I say that I am pregnant, perhaps giving up for adoption? -Jamie in TX - Top

    Jamie,

Hello! That is an opinion. BUT, you should really go over the policy with an attorney who is familiar with surrogacy, if they DO NOT have a surrogacy exclusion, they by law have to cover the pregnancy.

    Good Luck!

    Jamie,

I think you may find that insurance does not cover you getting pg via surrogacy, however, your insurance should cover the pregnancy itself once you are pregnant. As for saying you are giving the baby up for adoption I wouldn't tell them anything. If they don't ask how you got pg or what your plans are, don't tell. Just file your insurance as you normally would.

This is not something I would recommend. It is insurance fraud and, if caught, you would face felony charges. You should find insurance coverage that would cover the pregnancy and delivery no matter how the pregnancy occurred or what the outcome of the birth will be. I would also check further with your insurance company. You may be asking the wrong question. Most insurances won't cover surrogacy, but WILL cover the pregnancy and delivery of the covered person, even if it is a surrogacy pregnancy.

    Hi Jamie,

I would call around for Insurance.. ask if that they cover surrogacy. or call for a booklet. That should tell you if they cover it or not. If it doesn't say anything about it then i would assume that it would be covered. I would hate to think for someone to pay for all cost of a birth and
    delievery...

    good luck to you!
