Surrogacy and Egg Donation Q and A

Surrogate Mothers Online Q & A
  • Q & A: Just Starting Out - Surrogacy

For those just starting down the surrogacy path. Topics may include finding the right match, pros and cons of independent vs. agency, where to start, etc.

    44. I already have children. I am now unable to carry more. We would like to know whether a GS surrogate would consider carrying our next child? We realize it seems selfish (isn't having children always rather selfish)? but we feel so strongly about having more. Do you think most (or any) surrogate would consider it? - Anonymous in NY - Top

    Dear Anonymous,

My first time becoming a surrogate, I only wanted to help a couple with no children at all. However, after completing my 1st surrogacy I was willing to help my same couple out, but, they wanted to wait while I wanted to do this again. I personally think (having 2 children myself) that a sibling is a great thing for an only child). I decided for my 2nd surrogacy it wouldn't matter if the couple already had a child or not. My couple that I'm doing my 2nd surrogacy for does have a 5yr.old child. I believe that a sibling is a great thing to have. To answer your question, I think there are many surrogate mothers to be that would love to help you have another child. The most important thing during a surrogacy situation is that you all have great communication and you all agree to the terms of the "what ifs." I hope this helps and good luck. I'm sure there's a special person out there willing to help. Don't give up.

    Sherry

    Dear Anonymous,

Yes! Yes! Yes! Most surrogates don't really care if you have 0-10 children. There are so many surrogates willing to help families become a family or even extend their families. A good surrogate's heart is filled with love, compassion and a need to help a couple or family she feels love for. I think you're going find many surrogates who will hear your story and embrace you with open arms!

Good Luck and feel free to contact me if you ever need to talk.
